For a limited time only, Ward 18 residents can get a free rain barrel, thanks to a BPDC partnership with Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, the Cleveland Department of Sustainablity, Cleveland’s Water Pollution Control, Councilman Martin J. Sweeney, and Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.). Y.O.U. will employ teens to assemble and install barrels on residents properties starting as early as July, but applications are available now and already coming in. BPDC only will disburse 20 barrels, so contact Rachel Napolitano for applications and information today or download them here: 2012 Rain Barrel Information Sheet, 2012 Resident Info Sheet, BPDC Access Agreement 2012, 2012 City Access Agreement, and the 2012 YOU Access Agreement.
More rain barrels:
July 18th from 6pm-7:30pm BPDC is having a rain barrel workshop, presented by Cuyahoga Soil Water Conservation District (CSWCD). It will be at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church’s Fogarty Hall and is open to all county residents. If you already have a rain barrel and want to make another or if you aren’t one of the 1st 20 residents to sign–up with BPDC, you can make your own barrel in this workshop and learn how/why to use it for only $60 for your first barrel. Register with CSWCD to save a space for yourself in this popular workshop or check out their site for additional workshops and opportunities.
