Saturday, June 1, 2013 is the 15th Annual Big Creek Watershed Clean-up from 9am-noon.
(Past photos of creek clean ups and other improvements along this creek are available on the event’s site here.
Join volunteers young and old in cleaning debris from our Chevy Branch of the Big Creek, which flows to the Cuyahoga River and finally to Lake Erie. Besides picking up trash, volunteers will also have the opportunity to remove invasive plant species like garlic mustard from targeted watershed locations.
- Volunteers are encouraged to wear long sleeved tops and pants and boots for the clean-up.
- We will end with pizza and celebrate our creek and our teamwork.
- Youth will need parent/guardian signatures on waivers to volunteer. (Call ahead with questions about youth participation and waivers.)
We will meet in Brookfield Park at 9am and disburse supplies and instructions before heading off to various sites in the neighborhood.
(Brookfield Park is a lovely greenspace on Brookfield Avenue, just east of W. 130t St. and south of I-71. Besides picnic benches and a landscaped historical marker for West Park, the creek winds its way through this park.)
