Anybody can be great….. because anybody can serve…. you only need a heart full of grace. – Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Friends of Jefferson Park are looking for volunteers to help with our Bike Rodeo program this August 5th during the National Night out Against Crime at Jefferson Park. The Bike Rodeo Program will be a chance for youth to learn about bike safety, traffic rules, get their bikes checked and do helmet fittings along with a short ride. Help kids learn safe biking skills! Help the Friends of Jefferson Park present a Bike Rodeo at Jefferson Park on Tuesday August 5th at 5:30 pm and/or 6:30 pm.
But FIRST, you’ll want to get all the training you’ll need to teach kids how to ride safely by joining a FREE Traffic Skills Ride at the Ohio City Bicycle Co-op in the weeks before the event (loaner bikes and helmets available). Sign up via www.ohiocitycycles.org and click on their ‘Events Registration Page.’ The code to use in order to attend the class for free is RODEO VOL. Upcoming classes will be held on July 12th from 9am-12 pm as well as July 19th 9am-12pm. Please also register with Rachael Sommer by emailing renglebry [at ] gmail [dot] com or calling 216-905-1167 and she will provide more instructions on the day of the event.
Jumpin’ at Jefferson is the name of the basketball clinic and tournament on September 13th. People are needed to help serve food during 12 noon lunch hour. Around 11am, help is needed getting food started on the grill and setting up the meal supplies.
If you are not interested in assisting with the Bike Rodeo or Jumpin’ at Jefferson but you would like to be part of future planning and positive energy around Jefferson Park. Please contact Rachael Sommer to join the Friends of Jefferson Park committee. Meetings will be held monthly at Jefferson Park.
