Neighborhood Leadership Institute’s Schools as Neighborhood Resources is located at Artemus Ward 4315 W. 140th Street, collected non-perishable food items through its 2014-2015 winter community service program. These items were donated to the Bountiful Basement Hunger Network Site also located in the Bellaire-Puritas neighborhood.
Site coordinator, Gary Galaszewski, would like to inform the neighborhood of the multitude of free programming available: blood pressure screening; tutoring (grades K-12); line dance; arts and crafts; table tennis; Bible study; cheerleading; and basketball leagues for all ages. Additionally, free dinners are available for participants ages 18 and under.
“We’re more than just basketball,” says Galaszewski.
Programming hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 6pm- 8pm. The center is open until April 30th and is available (with prior arrangement) for community groups who want to hold meetings or events there.
