Volunteer with teens – one day event

The Summer Job JumpStart aims to give high school aged youth a leg up on the competition for summer jobs.  Participants will get professional resume assistance, a chance to practice their interview skills, and training on workplace expectations.  In addition to employers, we will have community service organizations and educational programs represented at our job fair as options for youth who need to develop their skills and gain experience.  Your time and energy as a volunteer will help young people develop confidence and skills to get that job and pursue their goals.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 9th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Gunning Recreation Center, 16700 Puritas Ave., Cleveland, OH 44135.

We will have mock interviews and resume writing workshops, and a workshop on workplace expectations and an opening session with an overview of the day.  We are in need of 20 interview volunteers and 8 resume volunteers, along with volunteers to help with registration and lunch.  Please let us know if you can join us, even for part of the day, and if you have a preference on how you would like to be involved.

Here is a tentative schedule of the day:

9:30-10 a.m. – Check-in/Registration

10:00-10:15 a.m. – Welcome and overview

10:20-11:20 p.m. – Break-out session 1 (Mock interviews, resumes, workplace expectations)
