Ice Crime & Bike Rodeo

Traditions are always better with ice cream! Bellaire-Puritas Development Corporation (BPDC) is improving the traditional first Tuesday in August ,Ward 16 Ice Crime Social for the National Night Out Against Crime by adding a Bike Safety Rodeo. Councilman Brian Kazy is sponsoring the movie at dusk, The Peanuts Movie, and the event will be held in a new location on Tuesday, August 2nd.

Ice Crime Social and Bike Rodeo pictureThe rodeo is for kids, with the help of Ohio City Bike Co-op, from 6-8pm. Bring your bike, take home skills, a helmet, and a reflector that lights up! Pre-registration for the rodeo is required and is easily done by calling Melissa Miller at 216-671-2710 ext. 214.

The event, in Ward 16, is the official event of the First District Police Community Relations Board, and will be located in McGowan Park, which features a playground, basketball courts, and the Ralph Schumitsh ball fields. There will be safety forces to meet and greet, safety resources to take home, hot dogs, ice cream at 7pm, and popcorn for the movie at dusk. This park is located on McGowan Ave. at W. 123rd Street, with access from Erwin and Kirton Avenues, as well.

The goal of the intergenerational event is to build community to prevent and respond to criminal behavior by peacefully celebrating the common space and positive police-community relations in Ward 16. We suggest walking, riding a bike, or carpooling to the park as parking is limited.

The Peanuts Movie is based on the famous Charles Schultz’s characters of Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the whole crew of characters. Charlie falls in love and Snoopy takes to the skies in epic quests.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket for the movies and meet your neighbors, meet your police force and other safety units, community groups, and have a good time with BPDC and Councilman Kazy.
